General Information

What are the school hours?
School begins promptly at 8:30 am and ends at 15:30. Half day maternelle ends at 12:30. Please have your students to school by 8:25 am after a full night’s sleep (10-11 hours).

Are students required to wear school uniforms?
The school uniform is required of all students in grades 1 – 8 to help foster a sense of discipline and modesty in school dress. High school students will be strictly adhering to the school’s dress code. See school specific documents.

Is lunch served at the school?
Students have the option of bringing their own lunch to school (microwave ovens available for heating food) or ordering lunch from one of our partner restaurants who will deliver the food to the school for your child.

Are extra-curricular activities offered?
Yes, Amicitia offers a variety of after-school activities in our Renaissance Program as well as some athletic teams. Students are able to take classes such as ballet, Tae Kwon Do, guitar, choir, drama and others through our rotating Renaissance Program. Languages at Amicitia

Does my child need to speak English to attend Amicitia?
If your child is under the age of 12 years old, s/he does not need to speak English before being admitted to Amicitia. We have programs designed to teach students to learn English as well as French and Arabic, so that when they enter middle school they are able to have their core classes in English to get the American high school diploma.

What does “trilingual instruction” mean?
Amicitia is an American school that offers daily instruction in English, French and Arabic. During our first year of maternelle (3-year-olds) our young learners are totally immersed in English. During the following two years of maternelle, our 4 and 5-year-old students will have exposure to both French and Arabic in an oral mode through stories, songs and rhymes. From first grade through eighth grade, English continues to be the primary language of instruction, with Arabic and French as required subjects. Exceptions are made for special circumstances at the principal’s discretion. In high school (grades nine through twelve), students must take a total of at least three years of a language other than English.

Does my child learn language from native speakers?
Yes, our English teachers are native speakers from the United States, native Moroccan Arabic speakers teach Arabic, and native French speakers or teachers who have gone through the French system teach French.

About the Diploma

Is the Amicitia American School diploma honored by American and European universities?
Amicitia has partnered with The University of Texas Online High School program therefore, graduates of Amicitia receive a high school diploma recognized by all American Universities and virtually all European Universities as well. We also offer guidance counseling for our graduates which helps with the higher education selection process and preparedness.

Where can my child go after graduating from Amicitia?
Graduates from Amicitia receive an American high school diploma through the University of Texas Online High School Diploma program. This diploma open doors to American Universities worldwide, including Al Alkhawayen University in Ifrane.

Is the American system the same as other educational systems?
While there are some similarities between the American system and other educational systems, the American system is basically a unique system of education. Students in the American system are taught creative thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and entrepreneurship as well as how to best utilize technology.
